History

The Visvaka story began with the founder Chula de Silva, a Food manufacturing and marketing professional identifying opportunities for substituting Sri Lanka ever increasing imported Food Commodities such as Potato, Onion their Dehydrated products from the same country of import at a lower cost to Sri Lanka. It also allowed the users of such products in the Food and Food Service Industry an opportunity to use products of convenience, superior in consistency of quality, stable pricing and superior hygiene quality in their manufacturing processes.

To-day, the company has expanded into being a vibrant entity having markets created for a number of Food Technology innovations in not only the Food Commodities such as Dehydrated Potato, Onion, Garlic, Egg but includes other pioneering efforts supporting the Food Industry such as Modified Starch products, Plated Oleo-resins, Khao Shong Instant Coffee.

Visvaka also provides a service of Customer Specific Premixes using key ingredients from their portfolio, enabling Food Service industry to benefit immensely to achieve product consistency and good hygiene practices.

Company Senior Management

Founder/ MD: Chula De Silva

The Founder and Managing Director of Visvaka Marketing, Mr. Chula De Silva is an independent food and beverages professional with a career spanning about 60 years in the Food industry in territories of Sri Lanka, United Kingdom & Bangladesh. He is a graduate from Liverpool John Moors University and from there, he has progressed from trainee up to the CEO at Lever Brothers (currently Unilever Sri Lanka) and thereafter to Jay Kay Marketing and Keells Foods as the Managing Director. He enjoys setting up New Businesses and guiding ailing businesses to vibrancy which Visvaka being one of the best examples of many which is now 20 years and still going strong.

Marketing Director: Prasanna Perera

An experienced Management and Marketing Professional with over 35 years of multi industry experience. Extensive experience in lecturing at postgraduate and undergraduate levels, across many different subject specializations. Experienced in curriculum development, setting of examination papers, dissertation supervision and mentoring/counseling both postgraduate and undergraduate students. Over 25 years of corporate training experience in Management, Marketing and Sales, covering multiple industries, large, medium and small scale organizations. In conclusion, a well experienced and grounded professional with extensive exposure, combining academic and practical abilities, spanning over 35 years.

Experienced CEO with a demonstrated history of working in the food production industry. Skilled in Business Planning, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Marketing Strategy, and Market Research. Strong media and communication professional with a Master of Business Administration - MBA focused in Marketing Specialisation from Cardiff Metropolitan University, ICBT Campus..
